What's Up With: Sammy Hagar
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Hard Rock

The New Album:

Sammy Hagar sings about what he knows best on his fifteenth studio album--parties, beaches, and love. Livin' It Up contains 11 new studio tracks featuring Hagar and The Wabos--drummer David Lauser, guitarist Vic Johnson, and bassist Mona. The album mixes eclectic styles that range from the hard-driving hits "Sam I Am" and "Mexico," to the roots rocker "The Way We Live," and the country-rock ballad "Halfway."

On Van Halen:

Rocker SAMMY HAGAR fears a VAN HALEN reunion will never happen because former bandmate EDDIE VAN HALEN needs "an overhaul".

The WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE singer still tours with former Van Halen bandmate MICHAEL ANTHONY and speaks regularly to ALEX VAN HALEN, but he rarely speaks with guitarist Eddie - and fears he never will.

But he's always hoping his former bandmate sees sense and reforms Van Halen: "If Eddie ever wants to be friends again, not just business... I would hope Van Halen does a reunion again sometime. It's too great of a band, the fans deserve it. But he needs an overhaul."

Kid Rock & Pamula Anderson Marry, Dave Navarro & Carmen Electra Split
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Hard Rock

Kid rock & Pamula Anderson:

LOS ANGELES - The on-again, off-again love affair between actress Pamela Anderson and singer Kid Rock is on again and this time they plan to marry.

The former Playboy model and the Detroit rap-rocker will exchange vows on July 29 aboard a yacht near the French Riviera city of St. Tropez, the celebrity magazine US Weekly reported.

"Yes, I'm finally getting remarried ... I'm in love. I'm happy," Anderson writes on her Web site, pamelaanderson.com, in an entry on Tuesday.

Anderson's spokeswoman declined to comment but US quoted an Anderson representative as saying, "They have been close for a very long time and decided that now is the right time to take the next step."

Anderson, 39, and Rock, 35, whose recordings include 1998's "Devil Without a Cause," have been romantically linked since the early 2000s but broke off their relationship in 2003. Recently, they have been seen together vacationing along the Riviera.

The blond actress, who gained stardom in the 1990s on TV show "Baywatch," was previously married to drummer Tommy Lee of rock band Motley Crue with whom she had two sons.

Dave Navarro & Carmen Electra:

LOS ANGELES - Former "Baywatch" babe Carmen Electra and her rocker husband Dave Navarro, who once starred in MTV television show "Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen + Dave," have separated, the couple's publicist said on Monday.

"They are amicably separating," said publicist Brit Reece.

He declined to provide further details of the break up.

Electra, 34, gained stardom in the 1990s as a Playboy magazine model and an actress in TV shows such as "Baywatch," about attractive southern California lifeguards.

Her marriage to Navarro was her second. For a brief period in the late 1990s, she was married to professional basketball star Dennis Rodman, as well known for his colored hair, tattoos and piercings as for his playing ability.

Navarro, 39, won fame as lead guitarist of 1980s hard rock band Jane's Addiction, and is currently hosting TV reality show "Rock Star: Supernova."

The pair were married in November 2003, and they documented the wedding for the reality show "Til Death Do Us Part".

Ozzy's New Album
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: Ozzy teams up with Zakk Wylde to make a new album full of anthems and ballads.
Topic: Heavy Metal
Ozzy Osbourne is getting ready to enter another chapter in his diary of a madman -- with longtime sidekick Zakk Wylde alongside. "There's a bunch of kick-ass stuff on there," Wylde tells Billboard.com of the material earmarked for Osbourne's 15th solo album. "It is just ass-kicking, heavy stuff, and we've got the ballads, some piano stuff and some acoustic stuff."

Wylde's Black Label Society is headlining the tour's second stage, and the guitarist is also playing with Osbourne on the select dates the former Black Sabbath frontman is doing on the tour.

He says "It would've been great if we got [Osbourne's album] done before the Ozzfest, but it's like trying to cram three pounds of crap into a two-pound leaking bag, if you know what I mean. There's not enough hours in the day to get everything done."

"But right now it's coming out slamming. I think once the Ozzfest is done, Ozz can start writing at home in the studio and start knocking vocals out." The as-yet-untitled album is Osbourne's first featuring all original material since 2001's "Down to Earth."

Wylde, meanwhile, will release Black Label Society's sixth album, "Shot to Hell," on Sept. 19. Wylde, who co-produced the set with Michael Beinhorn, cracks that the title refers to "what happens to our kidneys, livers and pancreas, being out on the road with Black Label."

All the Axl news you can take.
Mood:  spacey
Topic: Heavy Metal

First, June 30th:

GUNS N' ROSES frontman AXL ROSE has blasted Swedish police for blackmailing him into co-operating with their demands.

The singer was being held in a Swedish jail after being arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning (26JUN06) for allegedly biting a security guard during a drunken brawl.

After agreeing to pay a fine of 40,000 kronor (US$5,500/UK3,000), he was released from jail. He was also ordered to pay 10,000 kronor (US$1,360/UK756) in damages to the security guard.

But tour manager MERCK MERCURIADIS says the star only admitted to the "violent conduct" because he was physically mistreated as well as threatened with up to three weeks behind bars if he didn't. Rose would have missed the tour had he not complied.

Mercuriadis says, "We are in the middle of a tour.

"The Swedish authorities were very aware of this, yet continually threatened us over a 12-hour period with between five days and three weeks incarceration without bail if Axl did not 'co-operate'.

"They were fully aware that there were millions of dollars at stake, not to mention the hopes of tens of thousands of fans who had paid for tickets to see Guns N' Roses." "The point is, the police report should not be taken at face value, and if one were to be explicit, this experience is tantamount to being held for ransom.

"If the context were any different, Axl would probably have preferred to spend the time in jail in order to ensure that all the facts were a matter of public record."

Second, Axl does what he does best on July 22nd, causing a riot.

AXL ROSE sparked a riot at a concert after refusing to appear on stage until he had been given a full roast dinner.

The GUNS N' ROSES singer kept the crowd at Newcastle's Metro Arena waiting on Thursday night (19JUL06) for over an hour in the sweltering heat as he tucked in to his meal.

His behaviour didn't go down too well with the thousand strong audience, who started jeering and throwing objects at the empty stage.

Concert goer SASKIA GREEN says, "It was really hot and the crowd was booing because he was taking forever. A security guard said it the delay was caused by Axl demanding a lamb dinner before he went on - very rock 'n' roll." COLIN REVEL, manager of the Metro Arena, confirmed the bizarre request for the British delicacy and said, "Only a roast dinner would do."

Tommy Lee In Bathroom Brawl
Mood:  mischievious
Now Playing: Motley Crue bad-boy in bathroom fight?
Topic: Hard Rock
Bad boy rocker Tommy Lee provoked a "pushing match" in a Los Angeles night club on Tuesday after television hunk Johs Duhamel reportedly rushed him taking a pee.

The Motley Crue drummer was in a bathroom cubicle at hotspot Bella when the star banged furiously on the door, urging the occupant to hurry up.

When told who was using the toilet, Duhamel allegedly sneered, "Tommy who? Tommy Lee, who cares?"

Onlookers say an enraged Lee marched out of the cubicle and initiated a "pushing match" which reportedly left Duhamel sprawled on the floor.

Lee's publicist confirmed the spat to the New York Daily News, but denied any physical violence, adding, "Tommy remained and finished his dinner" while Duhamel was evicted.

The TV star's rep insisted she finds it difficult to believe her client would become embroiled in a fight.

Damnocracy Demos Online
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: Demos from Vh1's Supergroup now online thanks to vocalist Sebastian Bach.
Topic: Heavy Metal
It is more than a little frustrating to watch the show & see little to no footage of the band actually playing music. When I say on the show "well we jammed for 6 or 7 hours today" but they show none of it, it drives me nuts! The whole infamous "fight scene" with Evan & myself actually occured after dinner, late at night, & by the time we got into the mayhem it was 2 or 3 in the morning. When you have a full jam room in the house it is fun to get loose have a few drinks & jam. But all that occured after a full day of playing music stone cold sober... which is not on the show!

So here are
3 demos that I did on my laptop... extremely low quality & zero production ... if we ever cut these tunes, they would probably sound nothing like these demos .... but I figured that if they can show me completely rotted out of my skull on the show, I can share with you these crude but rocking demos that we did while in Vegas. These songs are not done at all. I don't know if they ever will be. I am not a producer or an engineer. Hopefully we can cut these songs for real someday! I will be posting remixes & more DAMNOCRACY music here so stay tuned.

Only 2 episodes left ! Sunday nights at 10 on vh1!!!!!!

Slash---No Gn'R Reunion
Mood:  accident prone
Topic: Hair Metal
If Slash were ever to look at his Caller ID and see Axl Rose's name, what would he do?

"Oh, I'd answer it," the former Guns N' Roses guitarist said recently. "But I know he would never call me. I've actually sent him Christmas cards, just to be cordial, but he never returns anything."

In other words, rumors from last month that Saul "Slash" Hudson would perform with Rose and his new GN'R in New York were just that. In March, just two months before those gigs, Rose filed suit against his former bandmate to confirm his "ownership of his own creative works" in response to an action Slash and former GN'R bassist Duff McKagan had filed over royalties.

"I don't know where [the rumors come] from, but I haven't dealt with Guns N' Roses any more than I have in the last 10 years," which is not much at all, Slash said. "So it's not really a thing with me. I have, in the foreseeable future, no re-involvement with that band whatsoever."

Instead, Slash is fully focused on his multiplatinum new band, Velvet Revolver, and their forthcoming second album, the follow-up to 2004's Contraband.

"We're in preproduction and it sounds amazing," Slash said. "I'm just really excited 'cause hopefully we'll get this thing out before the year's over. The material is amazing and ... we've grown so much as a band."

While frontman Scott Weiland has called the material a concept album and bassist McKagan said the band will record with a variety of producers, all Slash would reveal is that the LP is coming together naturally, and "it's not phony in any way, shape or form, and the band's whole-heartedly into it."

Well, that and the album title.

"I don't want to say [anything specific about] the songs, but the name for the album is Libertad, which is Spanish for 'liberty,' " Slash said. "It's something that we feel strongly about: liberty, freedom, you know ..."

Slash did take a break from writing Velvet Revolver material to pen a song and score some music for the just-released movie "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

"It's one of those things where you don't really know what you're doing, but they feed you what you need to see, certain scenes," Slash said. "It's easy to [write rock material] when you're watching cars going on their sides at breakneck speeds."

In the end, Slash reported that he enjoyed watching the film's action scenes, but not quite as much as he enjoyed the footage he saw on TV of Rose getting into a fight with Tommy Hilfiger.

"I thought that was pretty funny," Slash said. "That sounds about right."

Pink Floyd Founder Dies
Mood:  blue
Now Playing: Co-founder of 60's British band Pink Floyd dies at 60.
Topic: Classic Rock

LONDON - Syd Barrett, the troubled Pink Floyd co-founder who spent his last years in reclusive anonymity, has died, the band said Tuesday. He was 60.

A spokeswoman for the band said Barrett died several days ago, but she did not disclose the cause of death. Barrett had suffered from diabetes for years.

The surviving members of Pink Floyd _ David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright _ said they were "very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett's death."

"Syd was the guiding light of the early band lineup and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire," they said in a statement.

Barrett co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965 with Waters, Mason and Wright, and wrote many of the band's early songs. The group's jazz-infused rock and drug-laced, multimedia "happenings" made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene. The 1967 album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" _ largely written by Barrett, who also played guitar _ was a commercial and critical hit.

But Barrett suffered from mental instability, exacerbated by his use of LSD. His behavior grew increasingly erratic, and he left the group in 1968 _ five years before the release of Pink Floyd's most popular album, "Dark Side of the Moon" _ to be replaced by Gilmour.

Barrett released two solo albums _ "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett" _ but soon withdrew from the music business altogether. An album of previously unreleased material, "Opel," was issued in 1988.

He reverted to his real name, Roger Barrett, and spent much of the rest of his life living quietly in his hometown of Cambridge, England. Moving into his mother's suburban house, he passed the time painting and tending the garden. His former bandmates made sure Barrett continued to receive royalties from his work with Pink Floyd.

He was a familiar figure to neighbors, often seen cycling or walking to the corner store, but rarely spoke to the fans and journalists who sought him out over the years.

Despite his brief career, Barrett's fragile, wistful songs influenced many musicians including David Bowie _ who covered the Barrett track "See Emily Play."

Bowie said in a statement posted on his Web site that Barrett had been a "major inspiration."

"His impact on my thinking was enormous," Bowie write. "A major regret is that I never got to know him. A diamond indeed."

The other members of Pink Floyd recorded the album "Wish You Were Here" as a tribute to their troubled bandmate.

It contained the song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" _ "Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun." The band also dwelt on themes of mental illness on the albums "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall."

The band spokeswoman said a small, private funeral would be held.
